Rainy Day in Hongdae: Hot Crab Stew (Kkotgetang)
Rain in Hongdae Means Soup Weather
When it rains in November, Hongdae turns chilly fast. A hot, spicy bowl of stew is exactly what you want on a day like this.
How to Enjoy Kkotgetang (Korean Crab Stew)
The heart of kkotgetang is the broth, which gets its flavor from the crab shell and meat. Taste the broth while it is hot, and pair it with rice. The crab is cooked, so it is a good choice if you are wondering whether raw crab is safe for you.
West Coast Crab This Week, Guests from Taiwan and Hong Kong
This week GEON's crab comes from the west coast (Seohaean) of Korea. We have been welcoming many guests from Taiwan and Hong Kong lately, so our menu is labeled in English, Chinese and Japanese. Our signature is the Ganjang Gejang Set (soy sauce marinated crab), but on rainy days many people go for the Kkotgetang.
